False Faces is an exhibit featuring artworks (by Pamela Celeridad and Alfred Benedict Marasigan) alongside musical interpretations by:
Celeridad: My take on 'False Faces' is derived from the cultural and historical aspect of masks. I focused on the essential characteristic of masks that span most cultures: hiding (and, at the same time, revealing) personalities and moods, or taking on the guise of whatever/whoever the mask is in direct association with - to be someone you are not or to be able to do things you wouldn't/couldn't normally do.
Marasigan: I envision the theme 'False Faces' in two congruous ways. In the act of breathing, masks are conduits (instead of obstructions) between the self and the world. Just as well, art can mediate between the primal self and its internal terrain.
